A Zimbabwean man, Given Dube, has caused uproar after he claimed to be God and said there is nothing like the second coming of Jesus Christ because he is here.

The 27-year-old who is the founder of Umuzi ka Nkulunkulu church in Pumula South, told his followers to call him God because the Holy Spirit descended on him and declared him God.

Army Jails Personnel For Beating Up Woman

The 6 Division of the Nigerian Army has sentenced a soldier, Private Suleiman Olamilekan, to 28 days’ imprisonment with hard labour for beating up one Miss Ebere Ohakwe.

The army said Olamilekan was tried and found guilty of maltreating Ohakwe at the Omagwa checkpoint along Port Harcourt-Onitsha Road on January 30, 2017.

A statement on Thursday by the Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Aminu Iliyasu, stated that the erring soldier’s misconduct was reported on the social media.

Kidnapped, Killed, Uniport Lecturer’s Phone Leads To Suspects’ Arrest

Two members of a notorious kidnapping gang terrorising Rivers State, Patrick Koyi and Chituru Ferdinand, have been arrested by operatives of the Inspector General of Police Special Intelligence Response Team, IRT, for kidnapping and killing a lecturer of the University of Port Harcourt, Emmanuel Chinasa Obi, in September 2016.

Vanguard also gathered that a 24-year-old member of a dreaded cult group operating in Rivers State, Sunday Ogbonda, was also arrested by IRT operatives deployed to the state by the Inspector General, Ibrahim Idris, to track down high profile criminals.

Rapid Response Squad Nabs Cable Vandals In Lagos

Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested two cable vandals from Oyo and Jigawa States. The first vandal, Bayo Agboola, 30, from Oyo State, a cart pusher, was arrested at 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday, at Oba Akran Road, Ikeja, with an armoured saw and two sets of cutting pliers trying to cut a cable from an unlit lamp post.

Agboola, a three time ex-convict, had attempted to take to his heels before he was overpowered by the police on patrol of the area. In his statement to the police disclosed that he was trying to cut off a disused cable when the police arrested him, adding that he was out early to pick metal to escape the arrest of LAWMA officials.

JAMB to hold UTME in May

The Registrar of the Joint Admission And Matriculation Board, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede has disclosed that the 2017 UTME registration will commence within the next two weeks.

He further mentioned that the examination itself will be coming up later in May so it won't clash with any SSCE examinations, and help the board check any form of malpractice, especially upgrading of results.

“Normally, we conduct our examinations around March and the results will be ready within two to three days. But when do we need the results? It is always between July and August. This gives room for all forms of suspicion.

President Buhari speaks from London via phone, says I am feeling better (Video)

President Muhammadu Buhari has extended his appreciation to Nigerians for their goodwill and prayers, saying his condition has improved.

Buhari, who spoke for about three minutes in vernacular, on phone, with Governor Ganduje, while a prayer session was going on at Africa House, Government House, Kano, said he is feeling better.

Buhari said “Alhamdulillah (all praise be to Allah)”, he said when Ganduje inquired “how are you
feeling now Your Excellency?

During the prayer session, which was broadcast live by local radio stations in Kano, Ganduje told the President that Islamic scholars and Imams in Kano were praying for his speedy recovery. Scroll down to see the video.

To this, the President remarked “Maa shaa Allah”, meaning, “God willed it”, an Arabic phrase used to show appreciation for a person or happening and is evoked upon hearing good news.

He expressed the hope that Allah will accept the prayers and asked the governor to extend his best wishes to the Islamic scholars.

Governor Ganduje, who was highly elated, remarked that from the voice of the President, his health has greatly improved expressing the hope that the Nigerian leader would get well soon.

The governor enjoined Nigerians to continue to pray for the well-being of the President and the success of his administration.

“We prayed for Buhari to win and he won. It is now mandatory on us to rally round his government and pray for his wellbeing”, Ganduje remarked.

The prayers session, which brought together about 300 Imams and Islamic leaders from all Islamic denominations across the state was attended by the state Deputy governor, Professor Hafiz Abubakar, the Chief Imam of Kano, Professor M.S. Zahraddeen the state Commissioner of Police, Rabi’u Yusuf legislators and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ghali Umar Na’abba.

Don't Abandon Buhari, Continue Praying For Him, CAN Tells Christians

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has once again asked its member to continue praying for President Muhammadu Buhari until he returns back to the country hale and hearty from the United Kingdom where he has been since January 10,2017.

The Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, Femi Adesina, on Tuesday in Abuja said the results of President’s medical tests suggested further rest.

In a swift reaction to the new development, the CAN President, Rev Dr Samson Olasupo Ayokunle, on Thursday in Abuja, urged all well-meaning Nigerians especially Christians not to cease praying for the President, the acting President and the country until he returns in good health and sound mind.

Lassa Fever Kills Soldier’s Wife In Rivers

A 22-year-old woman, Mrs. Christabel Itodo, has died of Lassa fever at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, in Calabar, Cross River State.

Itodo, who is the wife of an army officer in Maiduguri, Borno State, was transferred from a hospital in Makurdi, Benue State, to the UCTH on Sunday.

The Chief Medical Director of UCTH, Prof. Thomas Agan, who confirmed the death of the patient, on Thursday, said she died of Lassa fever.

Imo Govt Sacks 1,400 LG Workers – NULGE

One thousand and four hundred local governments workers in Imo were sacked last week, according to the state’s chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees.

The chairman, Mr Ndubuisi Uchehara, while confirming the sack on Thursday in Owerri, declared, however, that the union would not confront the state government over it.

He said, “As a responsible union, we only act when the rights of legitimate worker are infringed upon.

MMM Introduces New Rules “To Freeze Investors' Accounts Again”

Prominent Ponzi scheme, Mavrodi Mondial Moneybox, better known as MMM, is at again, announcing it will freeze the accounts of some of its participants.
It also said it has introduced new rules to ‘serve them better’.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the wonder bank, whose popularity is as synonymous to its controversy, stated that it will launch the new rules which will “stop the growth of confirmed Mavros acquired before the 1st of January 2017 and freeze the bonuses received before the 1st of January 2017 so that limited withdrawal of Mavro-2016 will include only contributions, not bonuses.”

Osinbajo Summons IGP Over Kidnap Of German Archaeologists

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo on Thursday summoned the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, over the kidnap of two German archaeologists, Peter Breunig and Johannes Behringer, in Kadarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

A source told the News Agency of Nigeria that the police chief briefed the Acting President on efforts so far made by police to rescue the victims unhurt and apprehend the kidnappers.

Premium Times reported how the Germans were kidnapped and how two Nigerians who tried to rescue them were killed in the process.

Italy, Germany, Belgium Deport 43 Nigerians

The deportees arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMlA), Lagos at about 8.40 p.m.

The deportees, who are all male, were brought back with a chartered Hifly aircraft with registration number CS-TQW, amidst tight security.

Alhaji Muhammad Sani Sidi, the Director-General, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), confirmed the development.

He said 33 of the deportees were from Italy, while the other seven and another three were deported from Germany and Italy, respectively.

President Trump and the White House Budget Office have determined that Barack Obama and his family spent more than $9 million they shouldn’t have during their stay in the presidential mansion. Between expensive trips aboard, the weekends to play golf and the massive expense of watching his spoiled children the Obama’s racked up a bill that they could never actually pay.

So Trump did what every good employer would do: he garnished his wages. Obama’s $600K per year pension will, by executive order of the president, be deposited into the general fund until such a time as the money he wasted flying around on weekends in a big expensive helicopter and other unnecessary sending is paid back.

Fears Over Increased US-China Tensions As American Navy Starts Patrolling South China Sea

The United States and China are about to reach an all time low in diplomatic relations after China on Wednesday spoke out against the U.S Military's actions after a US aircraft carrier strike group began patrols last weekend on the South China Sea, an action the U.S Military classified as “routine operations”.

U.S President Donald Trump has questioned China's military and administrative legitimacy over the South China sea, and has promised to support 'allies of the U.S' like Japan and South Korea as his administration is unhappy with China's reluctance to rein in North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un and unfair trade deals between the U.S and China.

4 Die As Robbers Storm Owerri Bank

About four persons reportedly lost their lives, yesterday, when a gang of robbers stormed a bank on Wetheral Road in Owerri, Imo State capital.

It was gathered that the robbers reportedly trailed a customer to the bank, but policemen suspected the movements of one of them, when he entered the premises.

A source said one of the policemen reportedly shot the robber “and the injured robber was said to have returned fire, equally injuring the policeman.

The 2017 Brit Awards held in London last night and one of the high points of the event was Katy Perry's performance. She performed her hit new single, "Chained To The Rhythm," and went all out to mock U.S. President Donald Trump.

She had two giant skeletons dressed as Trump and UK Prime Minster Theresa May.

The two skeletons paraded around on stage holding hands in what clearly depicts their recent meeting at the White House.

'F**k Cancer!': David Bowie's Son Duncan Jones Pays Tribute To Singer

David Bowie was posthumously honoured at the 37th annual BRIT Awards ceremony on Wednesday, as he scooped Best British Male and Best Album.

His son Duncan Jones, picked up the Best Album award on his late father's behalf and gave an emotional speech, but later added that he 'forgot to mention "f**k cancer"'.

Bowie - who died of cancer in January 2016, just days after releasing his final album Blackstar - previously picked up three BRIT awards during his lifetime.

Customs Stole Our 18,000 Bags Of Rice In The Night — Sango Traders

Rice sellers in Sango-Ota market in Ado Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State yesterday, alleged that men of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, broke into their shops and carted away 18,000 bags of rice in the wee hours of the day. 

The traders, alongside youth in the area because of that, blocked the Ota-end of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway for over 12 hours to protest what they called invasion of their shops. 

The traders who betrayed emotions said the men of the NCS damaged the padlocks and doors of over 60 shops located inside Sango-Ota motor park, and carted away 18,000 bags of rice and jerry cans of vegetable oil.
